Books Lost...Now Found!

As the school year ends, there have been some stories about books that were once lost but now have been found and returned to their rightful owner...the school library! Please add some of these stories to the comments below.

Not a book...but -
Several years ago, one of my library aides went to a yard sale in town and found a cassette player…engraved with “Bay Schools” and still with our property tag on it. She gave the lady the $2.00 she was asking for it. The lady having the sale was a teacher who had retired that year!

I came to Finneytown from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, and on my first day I met the Woodworking teacher. He was getting to know me by asking questions, one of which was the question of where I had been previously. It turns out that he had graduated from Western Hills many years earlier, and he still had one of their library books! About a month into school, he brought it to me. The copyright date was 1942. I decided not to return it since a) it was really old, and b) they had lost their automation system anyway, so there was no record of it anymore. I told him that I had returned it, though, and that they were grateful. :)
